Seismic vulnerability analysis

Seismic vulnerability analysis aims to evaluate the capacity of an existing structure to withstand a reference seismic action, highlighting any critical issues regarding the safety standards set by regulations (NTC, Eurocodes, …). 

These analyses are based on a performance-based approach, comparing seismic demand with structural capacity, and can be conducted using linear methods (modal analysis, response spectrum) or non-linear methods (pushover, time-history), depending on the complexity of the structure and the project objectives. Seismic analyses of existing structures represent a fundamental, quantitative tool for risk management, intervention planning, and the protection of human life and the built environment.
